P2/3

Welcome to term 2 in P2/3!

Our topic this term is ‘Weather Watchers’ and we have been finding out about different types of weather. We have explored how rain is made through learning about the water cycle and have enjoyed a wide variety of different activities through activity-based learning. We have made rain in a jar, designed our own sunglasses and made a walking rainbow.

In Literacy, we are looking at how to write simple instructions and have learned about all the different features. We are now independent writers and have been learning lots of different sounds to help us with our spelling and reading. Reading has taken off in our class and we have been practising different strategies like prediction and inference and learning how to read with good pace and expression.

In Numeracy we have been focusing on our mental maths skills: looking at patterns in number, counting in steps of different sizes, recognising odd and even numbers, doubles and halves and learning our number bonds. We do lots of practical learning to help us understand all the different mathematical concepts and we LOVE maths! We have been exploring 3D shapes this term and have been using lots of different ways to sort information through pictograms and Carroll diagrams. We also love to problem solve and work together in teams to find different solutions.

It's been an amazing term so far and we are having lots of fun learning new things.
